That performance was a stark difference to the other side of Manchester filled with energetic pressing from the first whistle until the end. It was an overall dominant performance from what looked like a prime City as they managed to outplay Wolves. It was not, however, all sunshine and rainbows in terms of their performance, as the likes of Podence and Jimenez really should have brought Wolves back into the game much earlier. Overall, City's pressing was clever, with De Bruyne once again being instrumental in winning the ball back in the Wolves half and then showing off his great ball playing to get City to their opponent's goal. Gabriel Jesus for me was the standout player, moving all around the pitch and really harassing the Wolves players into making a decision. I was glad to see him then get the goal he deserved for his efforts.
Wolves will really rue their missed chances and had it been their day, we could have been looking at 3 points the other way. However, City soon took back control of the game and deservedly saw it out
against a team they had previously struggled with. I think Nuno will be very dissapointed in his frontline (especially Podence), who failed to execute their job after what was a very impressive second half
for Adama Traoré, who came out of the tunnel to turn the game in Wolves' favour.
This game should really show how formidable Manchester City are, as they came off the back of a tough Champions League run with no pre season, but played as if none of that had happened. So credit
where credit is due. However, this should show United fans just how far off they are from hitting their expectations and show City fans that they are not going to lay down and let Liverpool lift that trophy
again.
I predict a brilliant top 6 chase in what could be one of the best seasons in recent history. Let's hope all the teams are up to the challenge!
